چکیده

The theory of smallest area surfaces evolving with unit areal speed is a particular case of the theory of surfaces of minimum area subject to various constraints. Based on our recent results, such problems can be solved using the two-time maximum principle in a controlled evolution. Section 1 studies a controlled dynamics problem (smallest area surface evolving with unit areal speed) via the two-time maximum principle. The evolution PDE is of 2-flow type and the adjoint PDE is of divergence type. Section 2 analyzes the smallest area surfaces evolving with unit areal speed, avoiding an obstacle. Section 3 reconsiders the same problem for touching an obstacle, detailing the results for the cylinder and the sphere. M.S.C. 2010: 49J20, 49K20, 49N90, 90C29.

Simulation of Ship-Track versus Satellite-Sensor Differences in Oceanic Precipitation Using an Island-Based Radar

The point-to-area problem strongly complicates the validation of satellite-based precipitation estimates, using surface-based point measurements. We simulate the limited spatial representation of light-to-moderate oceanic precipitation rates along ship tracks with respect to areal passive microwave satellite estimates using data from a subtropical island-based radar. The radar data serves to es...

ASIC Design of Butterfly Unit Based on Non-Redundant and Redundant Algorithm

Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) processors employed with pipeline architecture consist of series of Processing Elements (PE) or Butterfly Units (BU). BU or PE of FFT performs multiplication and addition on complex numbers. This paper proposes a single BU to compute radix-2, 8 point FFT in the time domain as well as frequency domain by replacing a series of PEs. This BU comprises of fused floating ...

Analysis of Spatial Imbalance Associated with Rural Settlements in Iran

Spatial distributions of rural settlements in Iran represent an imbalanced nature. The major objective of this study is to investigate the spatial patterns of Iranian rural settlements using certain indicators and indices .It further tries to propose a model regarding the analysis of spatial imbalances. This study further supported by application of modifiable areal unit problem(MAUP) suitable ...

Development of a new and open approach to dissolve polygons storing count data based on areal threshold

While many analyses require smart and flexible aggregation of adjacent and complex polygons storing quantitative data, currently available tools do not meet this need. In this work we present the ‘SmartDissolve v1.0’ toolbox for ArcGIS (Esri) and MATLAB, a new approach and tool that handles minimum mapping unit, resolution mismatch between layers, or spatial uncertainty problems in GISc. This t...

Tape Based Magnetic Recording: Technology Landscape Comparisons with Hard Disk Drive and Flash Roadmaps

This paper describes the areal density (bits per unit area) roadmap goals for tape based magnetic recording (TAPE) and uses these goals as counterpoints for the areal density roadmap strategies for Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and NAND flash. Technology comparisons described in this paper will show that presently volumetric densities (bits per unit volume) for TAPE, HDD, and NAND are similar and that ...
